We know. Joe and Christina "liked" it and they're both smart folks, so it's got to be real, right?
Wrong.
For the sake of all of our sanity and humanity in general, we took a peek behind the "like" scams making their way around Facebook and we can tell you right now - the American dude doesn't deserve to get stoned to death and all the little girl found in her Happy Meal was mechanically separated, genetically modified chicken and high fructose corn syrup. With marijuana on the ballot in four U.S. states this November, most prominently California's Proposition 19, which would fully legalize the substance, the legalization of marijuana has become a hot topic of discussion in North America. If pot were to become legal in California, it is unclear how that would affect the ongoing drug wars in neighboring Mexico - whether it would increase, decrease, or have little effect on the widespread violence. What is clear is that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has declared that the federal Justice Department will continue to prosecute those who use or distribute recreational marijuana, regardless of any change to state law. Collected here are photos from the past year of marijuana in the news, for both medicinal and recreational purposes, and some of the legal entanglements involved. (via boston.com)
Denton jazz school kids Midlake have announced the follow-up to the 2006 epic, The Trials of Van Occupanther. The Courage of Others will be released on February 1, 2010. IRTJ is thrilled beyond compare.
Banhart has made the jump to a major with the release of What Will We Be. Sounds like he's happy with the arrangement and maybe he'll get a video he likes out of the deal. From Stereogum:
Other than "Carmensita" and "Little Yellow Spider," every video I've made has been a complete fucking mess of incompetence and deception. And the labels have released the videos without me seeing them -- incomplete videos that make no sense and make me look even dumber than I am. It's shocking. I've shot videos that should be fully animated that were released without any animation.
Mr. Iver let loose last night in Milwaukee that he's going to take a break for a bit. Probably a good thing as he's been on the road for the better part of a year. He's got his "experimental post-folk" thing called Volcano Choir ready to pump out some sounds soon so the drought may be short lived. While you wait, watch Baby's from his recent cemetery show in Hollywood.
So the kids like their vampires and Thom Yorke. Looks like the everyone is going casing in on passionate werewolves and vamps on the silver screen. The "New Moon" soundtrack is stacked with all your favs. It's all up on the YouTube so this one may get yanked soon. Digest it quickly. Lots of blips and bloops...totally stock T. Yorke, bro.
While IRTJ isn't the the first to stake claim to liking Woods. We might be the first ones to actually systematically make omelets to these songs the past 3 mornings in a row. Truly.
Here are a couple unreleased songs from their stop at Daytrotter.
